Participatory Budgeting Project – Website Redesign
Description
This redesign of the Participatory Budgeting Project’s (PBP) website was launched in late 2023. I worked with PBP from 2019-2023 on a monthly retainer, so I’ve worked with them on a very wide-ranging set of communications projects however, doing strategy, writing, graphic design, and web design.
The website redesign project was an intensive year-and-a-half process, engaging multiple stakeholders on staff in the design and development process and incorporating a round of UX testing and feedback into the final design before launching the site. They were looking to streamline site navigation, improve user experience, and make more of the timely work that PBP is doing easily visible on the site.
To achieve those goals, we reworked the sitemap and content organization extensively, organized resources into a searchable resource library, and worked with staff to develop clear information hierarchies for both the resource library and blog to ensure consistency and searchability. We made blog content more visible by adding a blog slider to the homepage so that more recent content would be visible to visitors.
